Although it was known by another name, Dr. Goldman’s first experience with hypnosis was as a youngster taking acting classes. Her Pantomime instructors used a process called “progressive relaxation” to help students develop muscle flexibility and control. She was so impressed with the experience, she held informal gatherings in her living room to teach it to her friends.

As a young adult, she had difficulty handling extreme anxiety in a variety of situations. She discovered traditional therapy was severely limited in helping solve the problem. When she sought out the help of a hypnotherapist, she found success. It was then that she decided to make her life’s work about showing people the power of hypnosis.

She began her private practice as a certified hypnotherapist in 1985 and went on to get her Ph.D. in hypnotherapy in 1989. Dr. Goldman has 20 years experience as a therapist in private practice. She uses hypnosis to help people build self-esteem, overcome obstacles to achieving goals, reduce stress and excel at job/sports performance.

Her writing career compliments her hypnosis career as it reflects her knowledge of psychology and her ability to assist people with making personal change. Her first award winning book, Emotional Disorders (about alcoholism, eating disorders, depression, etc.), was published in 1994 and her second one, Teenage Suicide, in 1996. Both can be found in libraries and schools across the country. Her third book, Success for the Diet Dropout: Proven Strategies for Women who want to Stop Hating their Bodies, was published in 2001.

Her weekly column, Ask Dr. Nikki, has appeared in three California newspapers. Each week she answers teens’ questions about things of such national concern as school violence and as personal as how to handle a disloyal friend. The issues reflect items found in the news or are a response to individual letters sent to Ask Dr. Nikki.

Dr. Goldman has contributed to such national magazines as, Family Circle, BBW Magazine, San Diego Business Journal, and several professional journals. She has been quoted in the Washington Post, San Diego Union-Tribune, Family Circle Magazine, Parenting Magazine and more. She has lectured in such prominent institutions as the U.S. Navy, UCSD Medical School, Charter Hospital, and national health conventions and is a frequent guest on radio talk and news shows.

She practices hypnotherapy in Poway, and Temecula, California. She is also the developer and facilitator of corporate training seminars and workshops in Strategies for Coping with Stress, Stop Smoking and Success for the Diet Dropout.

Dr. Goldman has 20 years’ experience as a therapist in private practice. She uses hypnosis to help people build self-esteem, overcome obstacles to achieving goals, reduce stress and excel at job/sports performance.
